Quick steps

Step 1
Browse your ePlatform, then borrow an eBook you like.

Step 2
Begin reading or open the eBook from your Loans page.

Step 3
Use the eBook Settings (Aa icon) to change the display of the eBook

Remember: ePlatform will remember your display settings and automatically apply them for every eBook. You change these settings anytime by selecting 'Reset Deafult'.

Tips & Tricks for Reading eBooks

eBook Settings eBook Settings

Select the Aa icon inside the eBook viewer to open Display Settings. You can change these settings at any time.

  • Font and text size: Make the text easier to read by changing the font style and size.
  • Background colour: Choose a page colour that feels comfortable for your eyes.
  • Spacing: Adjust letter spacing, word spacing, and line spacing.
  • Page layout: Choose how the eBook appears on the screen.
  • Night Reading Mode: Use a dark background with light text.
  • Settings Wizard: Get help choosing display options that suit you.
  • Reset Default: Change the display settings back to the original setup.

Select the Immersive Reader icon to open extra reading and accessibility tools.

  • Make the text bigger or smaller.
  • Increase spacing to make words easier to read.
  • Choose a different font.
  • Change the page theme or background colour.

  • Break words into syllables.
  • Highlight parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.
  • Show grammar labels above words.

Select or type a word to view its definition without leaving the page.

Select text to highlight it and add a note if you want to. You can return to your notes and highlights later.

Common problems

I can't borrow an eBook

If you can't borrow a book, there are a few possible reasons:

  • There are no more copies available for your school. You can reserve the eBook for when it becomes available.
  • You've reached your eBook limit. You'll need to return a book or wait for one to expire before you can borrow another book.
  • The book is restricted. Your school decides what books are accessible to you based on year level or age. If you think you should have access to the book, talk to your teacher.
 

I can't find an eBook

If you can't find a book, there are a few possible reasons:

  • Your filters are hiding it. To check: Go to the Browse page and check what filters you have applied.
  • Your school doesn't have it. Talk to a teacher about how you can suggest new books.
  • The book isn't available for your type of account. Your school decides what type of account you have, and what books you can get with it.
 

I can't download the eBook

If a book won't download, try one or more of the steps below:

  • If you are using the ePlatform Web App, eBooks will download automatically. Try refreshing your browser.
  • If you are using the ePlatform App on your phone or tablet, download the book manually by tapping the 'Manage Downloads' link
  • Make sure you have an internet connection.
  • Close the app or browser completely, then reopen it.
  • Restart your device.
